Unpredictable by CA Harms Review

UNPREDICTABLE
Series: The Key West #1
Genre: Contemporary Romance

~ SYNOPSIS ~
Have you ever wished for a moment that you could pretend to live the life of someone else? Escape the harsh reality that your own is anything but perfect?

Quinn had always been forced to put her own needs last. With an absent father and a mother who drowns herself daily in a bottle of Rum, there was no other option.

Jett was the distraction she needed, even if it was just for one night. A void filler, a chance for a freeing moment to allow herself to feel something other than emptiness.

He wasn’t what she expected…

Gentle

Her life didn’t have room for a man like Jett.

Unpredictable

But now it was too late, there was no turning back.

✩Review

CA Harms has quickly become one of my favourite Authors, I couldn't wait to get my hands on Jett's book. You first meet Jett in Loving Colt he is Alexis brother, and I fell in love with him there. In Unpredictable Jett goes on a journey with Quinn, he's a successful businessman and has gotten where he is today with sheer determination to succeed. He isn't used to people saying No to him and not getting what he wants, which in this case is Quinn.

Quinn on the other hand is used to not getting what she wants, She has a Mom that is an alcoholic, and a father that has never been there. Quinn has to struggle through daily life working all hours to keep the bills paid and her Mom out of trouble.

Enter Jett who after a one night stand he doesn't just want Quinn he needs her! He has to step up and show that he can be there for Quinn and help her.

Unpredictable had me hooked from start to finish. It is well written and deserves the five stars given. I am sooooo looking forward to the rest of this series.

~ EXCERPTS ~

Once I was far enough away from the house, I placed her on her feet and pinned her to the car we were standing in front of, with one arm on each side of her body, my palms flat on the hood.
I locked eyes with her and my determination did not falter. I was irritated, and her little fit was making it a whole lot worse. “Call the police,” I snarled. “You can scream bloody murder for all I care. Your ass is not walking out of here in this condition, plain and simple, so quit your damn bitching and accept it.”
She narrowed her eyes at me and her nostrils flared. Yeah, as if I cared she was pissed. I was pissed too, so we were about to have a fucking battle of wills here.
“I never asked for you to show up here and rescue me.” She gritted her teeth. “I don’t need you to save me. I’m fine on my own. I’ve been taking care of myself for a long time. I don’t need your help,” she practically growled.
I looked down at the ground between us, trying to control my anger. At times I wondered why in the hell I even bothered. Then I looked up and my stare met hers and I remembered, my stomach lurching at the hidden pain in her eyes, the façade she was trying so hard to keep up. I could see right through her act, and all I wanted to do was comfort her.
“Are you ever just gonna stop fighting this?” I asked. “Damn, Quinn, do you always have to be so difficult?” I pinned her with my hips. “Shit, woman, you drive me nuts. You can piss me off more than anyone I know.”
“If I drive you so nuts, then why bother? I’m not worth it, really, I’m not. Please, just walk away, Jett. Find someone with less issues than I have. Someone that can make you happy.” She hung her head, and her forehead rested against my chest. “I’m not that girl,” she whispered.
I gently combed my fingers through her hair, breathing in her scent. “Just shut up, please.” I gripped the back of her neck and directed her to lift her head. Her eyes appeared glossy, and the sight of them pulled at something deep inside me. Leaning forward, I kissed her lips softly, allowing my forehead to rest against hers. “I’m not going anywhere, you stubborn-ass woman. I’m here, I’m in this. So stop pushing so hard to get me to walk away.” I kissed her once more and skimmed the tip of my nose along hers. “I don’t walk away from the things I want, Quinn.”

EXCERPT #2
It’d been two days. Two days of unanswered calls, unanswered texts. Two days of driving by her house day and night, only to find it empty. I spoke with her boss at Spencer’s, and he too said she had taken some time off.
With each day my heart sank a little more with the thought that I had thrown away the best thing that had ever happened to me. This was on me, completely. I acted like the biggest dick when I should have just talked to her.
“Hey, numb nuts, you still pouting?” Kade shouted as he exited the French doors onto the back patio.
“I need to change my locks,” I grumbled. Resting my head back against the chair, I closed my eyes, attempting to block him out.
“Don’t blame me for your massive amount of shit. I’m just here for the pool—oh, and the free beer.” He chuckled as he pulled his shirt up and over his head, then took off and jumped, cannonballing into the pool. “Whew,” he yelled out just before hitting the water. The cool splash flowed backward, drenching the entire patio.
All I could do was shake my head at the ass. He was doing everything possible to pull me from my slump. I picked up my phone and checked once again for any response only to come up empty. “Give the girl some time. I know it’s driving you crazy, not being able to fix this, but you need to try to give her some space.” Kade climbed out of the pool, shaking his hair, once again spraying water in every direction. Cocky son of a bitch chuckled as I jumped from my chair and stepped back.
