Missing Summer:Part One Cover

 Blurb

"You're gonna make me miss summer,

You're gonna show me that time truly flies,
Show me the smile in hello,
The tears in goodbyes,
You're gonna make me miss summer,
When the winter stings my skin,
When the fallen leaves spin in the wind,
You're gonna make me miss summer."

Time changes everything.

Kollie was the "girl next door" who didn't notice Jared in high school. Jared is the guy who could get any girl he wanted... except for the one whose face adorned his dreams.

Fast-forward three years:

Haunted by dark events while away, Jared returns home to begin his life anew. He's shocked to find the one girl he could never have sleeping in his own bed... the one girl he swore he would stay away from forever.

Hired by Jared's parents as nanny to his younger brother and sister, Kollie is a mess. Thrown out of her own home, she has found a new family and what she believes is happiness.

With Jared's return, Kollie is forced to face her own demons. Jared, struggling for redemption, tries to resist his renewed attraction. But it's no use. Temptation soon has its way in a storm of rapturous bliss... while forcing both to face dark pasts and tortured memories.

Mid-laugh, James walks outside. "KoKo, are we going to have lunch soon?"
Thanks, James.
I throw a towel around me and go into the house to the kitchen. Jared heads up to his room to change into dry clothes. I take out some bread, coldcuts, mustard, and pickles. Soon there are sandwiches for all. Just as I finish the last one, Jared comes back down the stairs in a pair of swim trunks and a tee shirt. He leans against the wall and watches me.
"Sandwich?" I ask signaling to the food. He nods and walks over and sits on the stool directly in front of me. He doesn't take his eyes off me the entire time.
"So, when did you and douche-face break up?" he says.
"Douche-face from high school?" I ask while laughing. He nods. "Junior year."
He doesn't look pleased but he doesn't look mad either.
"Why?" I say.
"Just wanted to know. It's good to know things."
"I never knew you noticed me at school," I look up, "Weren't you a senior my freshman year?"
"Yep, I played ball with him. Saw you a couple of times." He looks nervous as he speaks.
"Oh, must be how you knew my name the other night huh?"
"Yeah. Dad had mentioned hiring you, and I remembered you from school. Though he never mentioned a boyfriend, so I thought I'd ask."
"You planning to swim?" I try changing the subject; that got awkward.
"Yeah, we should go play marco-polo or some shit with the toddlers."
"Is that an excuse to move around like a zombie?" I laugh, who actually plays that anymore?"
"Don't even start with that," he gives me a serious look that makes me blush, "marco-polo is the best swimming game. And I don't intend to walk as slow as a zombie, I'm fast."
"We'll see about that, Mr. Need for speed."
"Oh you have jokes now?"
With those words, he stands and comes around the counter. I stop what I'm doing and look over at him. He looks like a predator stalking its prey. This situation just went seriously hot. He puts his left hand on my right hip and pulls me forward until I'm standing directly in front of him. Then he lowers he mouth to my ear.
"Do I need to show you just how fast I am?" he asks in a whisper.
His hands come up on either side of my face at my neck. Then I feel his lips barely graze my ear.
"Answer would be nice sweetheart."
"You're fast, I get it." I can barely breath. This is too much for me. Too fast. But it feels so good. I lean my face into him until I feel his mouth on my ear.
"That's right, I'm fast, and you're wet."
What? How does he know?
"Your swimsuit, Kollie," he chuckles, "It's wet, you're going to catch cold in this house."
